Eucharist Encounter Weekend
St. Jude Church and Shrine was honored to host the Blessed Carlo Acutis Eucharistic Miracles Display, including a 1st class relic of Carlo, from Saturday, March 1 to Monday, March 3, 2025. The display was set up throughout the narthex and the church. Presentation summary:
On Sunday, at 3pm, speaker Kathleen Raymundo shared with us about Bl. Carlo and the Eucharistic Miracles.
Carlo chronicled all the Eucharistic Miracles known at the time, and since then, two more miracles have been added: one in Tixtla, Mexico, which occurred on October 21, 2006, just nine days after Carlo's death, and one in Sokolka, Poland, on October 12, 2008, exactly two years after Carlo's death. (See the slideshow for the posters that show these miracles.)
Scientific testing of these two miracles agrees with the 1971 tests run on the Miracle of Lanciano, Italy, which took place in 750AD and remains to this day: all three are heart tissue from the left ventricle, showing signs of great suffering; the blood type is AB in all three miracles. The flesh and blood are still fresh, which is to say, the test results are consistent with samples taken from living people, not dead bodies. From this we see the sign from heaven that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist in His living Body and Blood, as the Church teaches - He is present Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity, waiting for us to receive Him and receive His love.

About Carlo
Blessed Carlo Acutis was a remarkable boy. Born May 3, 1991, Carlo developed a great love for the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament at a very young age, even though his parents were not practicing their faith. He encountered faith through people who worked for the family and the townsfolk who attended daily Mass.
As he grew to adolescence, Carlo was very much involved in technology and had a great proficiency, beyond his age. In his early teens he developed the world’s first website to catalog all the Eucharistic Miracles.
Carlo was friend to everyone and was a great peacemaker. He cared for the outcasts among his young peers and was known for his joy-filled charity. He also had a great heart for the poor, regularly performing acts of service for those in need. Many people, including his parents, had their faith revived through his witness.
On October 1, 2006, after a short illness, Carlo was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia and died eleven days later at age 15. Immediately, people from around the area came to pay their respects and appreciation for the kindness and love this young man showed them. At his request, he is buried in Assisi.
Soon, people were seeking Carlo's intercession in prayer, and many miracles were reported. Carlo was beatified by Pope Francis in 2020 and will be canonized on April 27, 2025.
